Spoiled Rotten by Casey Newberg

Spoiled Rotten

An MFA Thesis Exhibition by Casey Newberg

“Can you get rid of bad feelings if you make them seem desirable? Newberg’s Spoiled Rotten is an examination of our contemporary consumption. Looking to dollar store and gas station goods to apprise her form language, Newberg reflects on the femininity of her youth and the pain and trauma which coincided. The prominence of Baker Miller Pink emphasizes its’ conceptual significance; a means for submission as the color is proven to reduce hostility and violence.  Modeled after the back alley of a store, racks and display hangers center the work in a trash-filled environment of familiarity. Over 100 pieces will be on display.”
